Every Monday night 8-10pm at the Underdog bar in beautiful East Nashville, The GT Trio shows up ready to leave our minds for a few hours. We love playing this homemade electric guitar driven music and taking the wild ride with full creative freedom. Featuring Tim Marks on the Fender 4 string electric bass guitar and Jordan Perlson on the drums and cymbals. These cats are not messing around and are ready to rock every single time. It was a wonderful weekend here in Nashville with some great friends and amazing weather. It’s finally here! We ran into these new friends in 12 South yesterday and it turns out that their 2 year old daughter is our littlest fan! They said she loves the song “The Window” and the whole new “In Stereo” record. How adorable is that?! There might be hope for us yet. We then hit up the legendary Browns Diner for a few friends bands, cold beers and the best burger in town. These cats are going to do great here and were raised right by some of Nashvilles finest players. Nick Govrik and Fred Elltringham. Young Tom’s trio played at Browns that evening also. The next evening we hit up the Four Seasons bar for the pre-game then on to Late Great for some stellar soul and R&B by Jarod Lawson, Fatar and a new guitar player I don’t really know yet. Tonight it’s Marc Ribot at Riverside with a Jedd Hughes pre-game dinner hang. Then back to Underdog Monday night with the GT Trio. Then next up, the BMI Troubadour Awards Induction honoring our good pal, John Oates. Never a dull moment here in Music City!

Here’s a nice musical excercise for guitar that you can really use in real life. It gets you up the neck without sounding like a pentatonic scale. Simply flat the 3rd to make it a minor idea. It’s always a distinct pleasure to be in the company of Billy F Gibbons. It’s also super fun to have him show up at our Monday night gigs to hold court when he’s in town. I’m so proud to call BFG a good friend and I always learn something new and have a few good laughs when we get together. Of course the stories are endless also as you can imagine. He’s a total one of a kind if there every was one and the coolest cat walking this planet. There’s some fun stuff in the works for us to come soon. What a life and the adventure continues!

Yet another one for the books yesterday. I love it when a plan comes together..and a group like this. When we were all driving out to the lake from our homes yesterday, it was raining cats and dogs, but I knew it would not slow us down any.. especially when you’re raised at a place called “Pirates Cove”. The infamous sunset cruise on Studio A is one of the coolest things we get to do around these parts. Exploring parts of hardcore deep Nashville and the stories to go with them that many here will never see or hear. It’s always magical and the company gets no better. This is how it all started long ago on the Gulf Co

This is how it all started long ago on the Gulf Coast. Playing with my Uncle Jerry every day after school. Started on the blues harmonica and then quickly moved on to acoustic and electric guitar. Distant memories at this point, but this is when I knew subconsciously that there was no other path for me. I was a lifer from early on. I’m so fortunate to have been raised in a family that was surrounded by music, musicians and musical instruments. The years that followed were literally a dream come true. Not only playing with almost every one of my childhood heroes, but now calling them my friends. As well as so many totally unexpected relationships and musical adventures that came later. I can say proudly that every cent I’ve ever earned has been from playing that guitar. It continues to be a wild ride to say the least. I’m the happiest and busiest I’ve ever been. Thanks for all the support!!
