Howdy friends,
I hope you are all doing great out there and enjoying life wherever you are residing on planet Earth!
I would like to personally say congratulations to the one and only, John Fogerty, for receiving the BMI Troubadour Award last Monday night. It was our pleasure to share the room with him, his family and a ton of close friends.
There’s a reason why John Fogerty is still kicking ass at 80 years old—he still loves music and has a great attitude! John is a true icon with some of the most legendary and most memorable songs of this century. “Proud Mary,” “Born On The Bayou,“ and “Fortunate Son” just to name a few.
Of course his talents and accomplishments are incredible, but the thing that resonated with me the most was his kindness, humility and enthusiasm.
John was grinning from ear to ear when he showed up to rehearsal straight from the airport last Sunday here in Nashville. He walked up to every single person in the room, shook their hand and introduced himself…and remembered everyone’s name the entire time he was here. His kind, positive energy was immediately infectious.
It’s obvious to me why John Fogerty, John Oates and Billy Gibbons (the past three Troubadour Award recipients) are so successful and still making music after all these years. These are true artists that are as inspired and excited today as much as the first day they picked up a guitar. They have an amazing work ethic, never stop moving, are total professionals and are genuinely nice people. It’s super inspiring and really teaches us all a huge lesson—no one has an excuse to be an asshole! These guys should be role models to all of us.
We always assemble a stellar house band for these award shows and this year it consisted of Nick Buda on the drums and cymbals, Tim Marks on the Fender bass, Jimmy Wallace on the keys and Tom Bukovac and myself on electric guitar.
It was a real pleasure working with these amazing artists to honor the great John Fogerty.
Jesse Welles “Have You Ever Seen The Rain”
Billy Gibbons and La Marisoul “Green River”
Jay Buchanan “Fortunate Son”
War and Treaty “I Put A Spell On You“ / “Born On The Bayou“
Lainey Wilson “Proud Mary”
The Troubadour Award show always dovetails nicely into Americana Fest and this is a great time of year here. The fall weather mixed with close friends and a bunch of awesome music reminds us once again after all these years while we live in such an incredible town. It was simply another amazing week in Nashville. Life is good and the adventure continues!
Thanks always to BMI for including us in this event each year.
Thanks for all your continued support,
Guthrie Trapp

This was the first thing John said when he walked into the rehearsal Sunday here in Nashville. How amazing is that!
