Hey friends!
I simply want to take the time to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! My parents are in town for the week and I’m playing a few gigs so that’ll be fun. It’s always great having them here during the holiday season. I hope you’re all settling in for a nice Turkey Day and able to spend this time with your family!
It’s been a hell of a year here and I always want to extend my gratitude to all of you that help make it possible for me and my friends to keep doing what we love for a living. There’s some fun stuff coming in 2025 and of course we will keep you posted on all of that!
One of the things I’m super thankful for is being a part of such an incredible online music community with you all! I really appreciate you taking the time to read these newsletters. We have a lot of fun putting these together as it’s still creative, but not with a guitar in hand for a change. We consider this more of a blog and we enjoy adding in random fun stuff that doesn’t always pertain to music at all.
About the photo above: Pablo Picasso, one of Europe’s greatest artists of the 20th century, had a series of animal paintings that are arguably his most famous collection. One of his paintings is called Young Rooster. In portraying a young rooster, he did not limit himself to a simple representation of this bird. He wanted to show its unconscious aggressiveness and arrogance. For this reason, he used caricature or exaggerated expression to convey this purpose, and with what admirable ability he did this! I grabbed this photo while visiting The MoMA in NYC last week and thought it was fitting for Thanksgiving (even though we know it’s not a turkey, hah!)
New York Recap!
NYC is a wrap!
It’s always an amazing experience and most interesting adventure coming to the Big Apple. Every single time.
We brought a stellar group of close friends and players up to play 3 sold out nights at the legendary Bitter End – Tom Bukovac, Jedd Hughes, Jimmy Wallace, Nick Govrik, Tim Marks and Jordan Perlson. Even “Young” Tom joined us on this one. This makes the 3rd time The GT Trio has played there this year.
One of the highlights that surprised us all was an impromptu spoken word poem that Nicky G wrote to recite at the end of the very vibey tune Buk wrote called “Bitter End” that we closed the set with each night. It was epic.
Thanks so much to all that helped make these such memorable nights for all of us. It’s nothing but love at the Bitter End and we all really felt that even more this trip. Paul and the crew are the best and make us feel at home every time. We will be back there real soon!
Happy Holidays, everyone!
All the best,
Guthrie Trapp
