1st Stop – Berklee College of Music, Boston

Berklee

It was a blast taking the GT Trio up to the Berklee College of Music for the first time earlier this month. Coming from somebody that walked out of high school two weeks into the 10th grade, it’s always an honor to get asked to do clinics at these prestigious schools. I also love when these music discussions are combined with a live performance. It was so fun to play a few songs with questions peppered in between. The staff at Berklee was a joy to work with and the students really showed up and asked great questions. I always end up learning more than anyone else! Their love of music was infectious and I think the future of music is in good hands.

2nd Stop – The Bitter End, NYC

Bitter End

As soon as our gig was over in Boston, we jumped on the Amtrak and headed down to New York City for our two-night stand at the legendary Bitter End. We’re starting to feel like this is our home away from home. We had two sold out nights again with a lovely crowd and some familiar faces. You know who you are! This is as good as it gets for us. We love playing these small, intimate venues where we really get to connect with the crowd up close and hang a bit with them afterwards. A great time was had by all and thanks to those of you who joined us! We can’t wait to see you there again real soon…

*The next Bitter End shows are going to be for the books with the GT Trio, Tom Bukovac, Jedd Hughes, Nick Govrik, and additional special guests November 18, 19 and 20. This will be the official “IN STEREO” Nashville to New York record release extravaganza! Mark your calendars!

We will be sending a full newsletter about these shows as soon as tickets go on sale.

3rd Stop – Chicago with Dennis Quaid

Quaid

After our NYC shows, the trio rhythm section returned to Nashville and I jumped on a plane to Chicago to hook up with the Dennis Quaid crew. I arrived around 3pm, got settled at the hotel which was located right downtown on the river and then hit the ground running exploring as much of the city as I could in a short time. I always start with a good restaurant or bar recommendation and then let the evening take me from there. There is nothing more fun than exploring these cities with some seasoned locals, many of whom I meet out of the blue on these random wanderings. Story of my life!

The rest of the band showed up the next day and after I had some amazing tacos at XOCO washed down with an ice cold Tecate, we headed to the venue for the show. I really enjoy my time I get to spend with Dennis and I always learn something. He learned how to play the piano from Jerry Lee Lewis while filming the movie “Great Balls of Fire!” back in the 80s and I think he has always had a huge passion for music in general. At 70 years old, Dennis is in amazing shape and one of the most energetic performers and human beings I’ve ever seen. He’s a machine that never stops and a pretty damn good singer, songwriter and musician. The adventure continues!

Last Stop – Nashville

Eastside Music

Jumped right back into the fire as soon as I got back to Nashville with filming an Analogman Documentary. Analog Mike came to the show in New York and gave me a hand-made King of Tone that he had made earlier that day! “Uncle Larry” and I then had three interviews for the “IN STEREO” record with D’Addario, Premier Guitar and the Fretboard Journal. So keep an eye out for those. We finished up the day at The Cabin Studio by cutting a new song with Steve Mackey on bass and Matty Alger on drums. It’s always a pleasure to work with these guys and we can’t wait for you to hear all the new music to come soon!

Thanks so much for being a part of this newsletter and for all of your continued support. We all should be proud of this amazing music community we are building together here!
