Howdy friends!
Thanks so much for being a part of our fun newsletter blog that we do here. This is just a little recap on our latest visit to New York City last week for our GT Trio gig at The Bitter End. It was great to see a bunch of you there and we hope to see you all at the next one! We should be coming back around September.
This was an interesting weekend…the weather was not great, Jordan almost didn’t make the show and I lost my cell phone on the last day. But the gigs were spectacular and that is the most important part of course!
The first night Jordan’s flight got diverted to Pittsburgh due to bad weather, but he arrived at the club without one minute to spare! We were supposed to start at 9:45pm and he walked in ready to rock at 9:41pm. Big thanks to Oz Noy who helped me get NYC drumming legend Rocky Bryant from Average White Band fame on standby. Rocky played the first two songs with us as we couldn’t have him show up and not play! What a great guy and an awesome drummer. Thank you Rocky!
As I was walking in to TSA pre check at LaGuardia to head home, they asked for my digital boarding pass and I realized at that moment I had left my cell phone in the Uber…which was long gone! Of course I frantically searched everywhere and went back out to the curb to look for it but it wasn’t anywhere to be found. So when I got to the gate after getting a paper boarding pass, I asked a stranger if they had Instagram so I could at least let a few people know I was alive.
They were extremely kind and let me do so which was a huge help. Funny enough, by the time I landed back in Nashville, the Uber driver had hacked into my phone and called some people from my most recent calls list. Amazing! We still have no idea how he did this! His name surprisingly was Karma. You can’t make this shit up! Maybe this was the universe telling me to take a little break. He even tried to send the phone back to my Nashville address that afternoon but couldn’t ship it overnight due to it being an electronic device. He then eventually took it to Paul Rizzo who owns The Bitter End (phone handoff photo below) and Paul put it in the mail for me.
As you read this right now, I still don’t have my phone back yet and this makes a full week without it. The best thing that ever happened was losing that thing for seven days. It’s been really nice to take a break and it honestly feels less stressful – I recommend it to everyone! I learned that nothing fell apart and nobody really missed me either!
Ok enough about that stupid phone, ha!
As you can tell with these images, I love the random street scenes and especially in black-and-white. I had a photographer tell me one time that when you take photos in color, you’re just photographing what people are wearing. Ha! I hope you dig these photos as much as I enjoy capturing them.
I’m also including a random photo from Billy Gibbons just for fun of the Vox Wah as an accelerator pedal. I love that…what a great idea!
Next stop: Smoky Mountains for some hiking then Scotland for the Guitar Dreams clinic.
You guys take care and I’ll talk to you real soon.
Thanks a bunch!
